Today, the Center for Disease Control issued new, interim public health recommendations for fully vaccinated persons. Under the recommendations, most fully vaccinated people 1) can gather indoors without wearing a mask and 2) do not have to be excluded from the workforce when there is a COVID-19 exposure if that individual does not have symptoms.
These recommendations have not yet been adopted by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Division) or the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Employers should reasonably expect that if and/or when the CDPH formally adopts the CDC's recommendations, the Division will issue updated guidance and/or amend the Cal/OSHA COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standard.
The following recommendations apply to non-healthcare settings. Fully vaccinated people can: Visit with other fully vaccinated people indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing Visit with unvaccinated people from a single household who are at low risk for severe COVID-19 disease indoors without wearing masks or physical distancing Refrain from quarantine and testing following a known exposure if asymptomatic
