A Statewide Medical Provider Network? This is what is being proposed as part of AB 1465 which has recently been introduced. My take as a practitioner working in Northern California where many injured workers are considered to be in a rural area--carriers rarely have a valid MPN in those areas, so how is California going to find enough doctors willing to be a part of the California Medical Provider Network? I think it's a great idea, but personally not sure how they will really be able to make it work.
Doctors would be eligible to participate in the new network if they are in good standing with the California Medical Board, have not been suspended for illegal or fraudulent activity, agree to treat injured workers within the scope of their medical practice and bill in accordance with the Official Medical Fee Schedule.
